I am following your Dreamweaver CS3 book because I need a basic database to integrate with my proposed web site.
Unfortunately, I am having frustrating problems with Windows and your instructions for running XAMPP - Windows (XP Pro with all the latest updates) insists that I enter user name & password to access my machine when I try to access localhost web page even though I am administrator with no password setup! Same problem when I tried the basic Apache program downloaded from their site.
I had considered using MS Access but my web host does not support .ASP.
Is it possible to update a MySQL database on a home machine, then upload it to the web host site or must all updates be done online?
Any pointers to the Windows probs or where to go to find answers would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Mike

I have been reading 'The Missing Manual on Dreamweaver8' for the past few weeks. Being a novice web designer, I have found your book a good support. Without any background of knowledge or hands on experience about web designing, Dreamweaver makes web designing easier. Your explanations in the book gives us the minute details and valuable information in an ordered manner. Thanks alot.

regards
