If you use Dreamweaver’s database-driven page building tools, it’s a good idea to have a working Web server running on your own computer. In my books I recommend XAMPP for Windows and MAMP for Macs. Because the software is updated more frequently than my book, I’ve put instructions for setting up a testing server using these two programs on my Web site. I’ll keep these instructions up-to-date as new versions of XAMPP and MAMP come out:
