Mar202007Dreamweaver 8 and PHP Fix Available
As I’ve blogged about in the past (see Dreamweaver 8 and PHP 5.1.4 busted), Dreamweaver 8 has some problems with the latest versions of PHP. If you don’t use PHP for your Web sites, don’t worry about it. If you use an older version of PHP (like PHP 5.0 or PHP 4.xx) then you also don’t need to worry about it.
The entire problem is discussed in an Adobe Tech Note. Adobe offers a download that fixes these problems. You can get it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/ts/docume nts/b6c2ae2a/DW802_HotFix-0_6_0.zip

Never mind, I think I found my problem. I filtered the rsVendors and rsCategory recordsets when making them for the update page. I think I accidently followed the steps 2-7 on the update page instructions instead of the 2-7 of the insert page (as instructed).

Do you know of anyone who has tested Adobe’s extension? I’m working through your PHP Tutorial for Dreamweaver 8 and I can’t make the update page work. It won’t display the vendors or category (the menu items) correctly. It looks like it might be related to the problem the “HotFix” was supposed to fix. I don’t know enough PHP yet to figure out how to fix the generated code manually.

PHP 5.2.4
