Adobe’s just released a new updater for Dreamweaver: version 8.02.

If you use Flash on your sites or you use Dreamweaver’s dynamic, database features, you should definitely update:

This updater fixes a couple of serious issues:

SQL Injection Attacks

Apparently the code generated by Dreamweaver 8 when creating database-driven pages that add, read, update, delete info from a database is subject to what’s call an “SQL Injection” attack– this means that it’s possible for some nefarious hacker-type person to type particular code that, if input to your database, could do some nasty stuff, like ruin your database!

Once you’ve installed the updater you’ll need to reapply any of the following server behaviors:

  • Recordset (when using the ‘filter’ option)
  • Insert, Update, and Delete Record server behaviors and Record Insertion Form Wizard
  • Log In User
  • Check New User
  • Master Detail Page Set
  • Record Update Form Wizard

This appears to affect several server models. Here’s are links to effected server models:

Flash Code for Internet Explorer

It appears that the latest version of Internet Explorer introduces a few changes that make viewing Flash content troublesome. Because of this, if you use Flash on your pages of your site, you should update Dreamweaver then use a new “Convert Active Content” feature introduced in 8.02. Misc. Fixes

The 8.02 updater also fixes a few minor bugs. For more info on all of the changes visit this tech note.
