2001 Apartment Mower Roundup

After weeks of rigorous testing, Cosmopolitan Farmer has identified the two brightest stars in the apartment mowing sky. The Chinook Push-o-matic Indoor Mower and the Sampson Deluxe Apartment Mower both prove to be excellent tools for the apartment farmer. While we tested ten other mowers these two pulled way ahead of the pack. Of the different types of mowers tested, Cosmo staff found the self-propelled non-motorized mowers to be the quietest, safest, and easiest to use. While the Anodyne 7457 is a work horse, it's loud gas-powered motor forced one Cosmo tester to be rushed to the hospital. Unless you have excellent ventilation in your apartment, we advise you to stay away from gas-powered varieties. Now on with the results.

Chinook Push-o-matic Indoor Mower

The 2001 model of the Chinook mower is a big improvement over last year's model. It's smooth gliding action is perfect for even massively over grown sod. Its handling around corners is superb -- perfect for those tight areas around sofas and coffee tables.

We found the built in cuttings catcher to be ample -- holding around 2 gallons of cut sod. It detaches easily and even has attachements for hooking up to the Chinook Apartment Composting System. To sweeten the deal, Chinook throws in 1 lb. of grass eating worms with each mower.

But as with most Chinook products, it's the little things that really make this product shine. The attention to detail shows in the hand-crafted wooden handles, the titanium gearing, and the recyled rubber wheels. Once you give this mower a spin, you'll be wanting a bigger apartment with more sod to mow!

Sampson Deluxe Apartment Mower

While not quite as powerful as last year's model, the 2001 Sampson Deluxe is still an excellent indoor mower. In our battery of 7 mowing tests, the Sampson scored 9 or above on each. The fine blades turn even large weeds into tiny cuttings, perfect for composting or salad garnishes.

List Price $370.00 / Street Price: $300.00.
